Leyla Lima Ali is a mid-career Congolese artist in a renewed phase of practice, whose practice combines technical refinement with a sustained engagement with womanhood, childhood, cultural identity, and the transmission of knowledge across generations. Trained in painting and printmaking at Vaal University of Technology in South Africa, she works across painting, drawing, pastel, and watercolour, using a rich palette and precise handling of colour to construct images that are both visually immediate and socially grounded.
