Steve BANDOMA
Steve Bandoma represents a significant mid-career voice in contemporary painting with over twenty years of sustained practice and documented institutional validation. He has spent two decades developing a rigorous figurative practice that examines power, authority, and collective memory through the lens of complex and hybrid forms. His work merges human, animal, and mythological elements into compositions where humor and critique operate simultaneously without resolving into didacticism. Working primarily with ink and acrylic on canvas, Bandoma has constructed a distinctive visual vocabulary through which questions of domination and social organization become legible. His work is held in museum collections including the Royal Museum for Central Africa and has been exhibited at the Musée du Quai Branly and the Fondation Cartier. Presentations at the Princeton University Art Museum and Art Basel demonstrate both formal sophistication and significant intellectual rigor.
